Pursuit EX 6.0 Pickleball Paddle

The Pursuit EX 6.0 Paddle from Engage Pickleball offers a pro-level combination of control and responsiveness. Its impressive performance stands the test of time thanks to a textured, omni-directional surface which is attributed to the graphite itself rather than a textured overlay material. This prevents the texture from wearing down and creates a consistent feel across the entire face. You will find it is easier to add spin to your cut shots, in addition to the surface "gripping" pickleballs for longer periods so you can carefully place your shots.

The Pursuit EX 6.0 Pickleball Paddle features a core that is 0.6" thick, so it provides a higher degree of control and shock dampening than standard half-inch-thick paddles. The Pursuit EX 6.0 delivers a soft touch, but is still highly durable due to the Control Pro Black proprietary core material. The face is broad, at 8" across, and its handle is 5" long with a medium-to-large 4-3/8" circumference. The paddle comes in three weight ranges: lite at 7.5 - 7.9 oz, and standard weight at 8.0 - 8.4 oz. The grip is perforated and features a tacky feel so that you will feel confident in your grasp even during heated games.

The Pursuit EX 6.0 Pickleball Paddle will keep you in top form throughout intense games, and has a precision-based, reliable design.

Actual grip sizes may vary up to 1/8".

When I spoke to the sales person, I had mentioned that I’d had this paddle in the past and it’s a great all-around paddle. Especially for deep in the backhand and has a lot of pop. That pop also lends to dinking ball control. This paddle does not have the pop as the one I had before, and it’s the exact same paddle. Also, when I spoke with the sales person about the weight, I wanted a 7.7 ounce or 7.8 ounce. I said no 7.9 ounce. I was in the category I believe lightweight. I received a 7.9 ounce. On the paperwork it said 7.8 or 7.9 ounce. This was not what we discussed over the phone several times. I tried it out anyway, because I had no paddle to work with. One or 2 ounces does make a difference in gameplay and reaction. I contacted customer service several times through email and not one person has responded. I had great interaction over the phone with the sales person, but when it came to two mistakes on two different pieces of equipment, not one response back from the company. Ordering from Pickleball Central again, and this was my first time, won’t be likely. Unless they fix both these problems.

I purchased this paddle as an upgrade to my Engage Advantage Poach. I’ve only played with it a couple of times and there is an adjustment period from my old paddle. The Pursuit is noticeably heavier when compared to the Poach. With the Poach, I felt I could swing more freely with my topspin and the ball would still be in play. With the Pursuit, I have to generate more topspin to be able keep the ball in play. The textured graphite face makes the adjustment very doable. The Pursuit was noticeably quieter than my Poach, which for me was a plus. This is most likely due to the new polymer core. The difference of noise does take a little time to adjust to. The biggest improvement between the Pursuit and my old Poach is the dink-ability and touch. This racquet has great feedback and touch around the net. With my old Poach, the ball seemed to push the paddle around. With the new Pursuit, the paddle absorbs the ball’s velocity while delivering easy and controlled placement and feel. I feel confident that as I get used to the differences between the Pursuit and my old paddle, it will enable me to be better around the net which was never my strength. I think the adjustments I am having to make now as I get used to it, will payoff in terms of hopefully becoming a better all-around player.

I bought the EX Pursuit for my wife (3 rating player), she plays 3-4 times a week. In a month and a half the face is showing bold spots (smooth instead of the original texture). I’ve reached out to PC for warranty.

I am a 78 year old probably 3.0 rec player playing 4-5 times a week. The things I like about the Engage Pursuit Ex 6.0 are 1) It has a fairly large sweet spot which is good for an intermediate rec player. The longer version allows for a few more gets but the larger sweet spot and better control I think is better for for us rec players 2) It has more grit for more spin Probably not the most spin available but decent spin. 3) The thicker version of the paddle also gives better control although a little less power. Things I like less 1) handle is a little thicker than most but still OK 2) It is a little head heavy. I tried out both the mid weight and lightweight paddles. I normally get midweight paddles but like the lightweight version of the Engage Pursuit Ex 6.0 because of the weight balance. I can add lead tape later if I want. I think this is an excellent pallet for an intermediate rec player at a reasonable price especially when it is on sale like presently.

I am a 78 year old rec player 4-5 times a week. I have not been rated but most likely am a decent 3.0 player. I have tried number of other paddles but like this one better than the others I have tried. The Engage Pursuit Ex 6.0 had a large sweet spot with is great for us older mid level players. That gives it excellent control for the touch shots. It has enough power for put away shots. The only drawbacks I have found are 1) it is head heavy. That did not bother me on serves and drives but seemed to make it a little less maneuverable. I am currently using the mid weight paddle but am going to try the light weight, and 2) the standard grip is 4 3/8 vs most other paddles at 4 1/4. I don't have large hands and it did not bother me but I have seen some other reviews where it did. There is a newer version of this paddle called the Ultra Engage Pursuit. I have not played it but the reviews of it say the two main updates are the weight has moved more to the handle so it i less head heavy and supposed to have more spin. However the price of the Engage Pursuit has been discounted quite a bit and the Ultra price has gone up so the difference in pricing is not quite $100. So I think the Engage Pursuit Ex 6.0 is a great paddle at a reasonable price for us mid level players.

Great "all court" paddle. I own two of this model. Truly has power and control. Spin capability is very good. Resets are easy and dropping hard shots at the net come easy. A bit softer than carbon fiber, which is a plus for me.

This is my best paddle that I have owned. It is light weight, the grip just fit my hand. I play better too. Now that’s a plus. Glad this paddle was chosen. Excited about taking it to the court today and tomorrow.

Pickleball Central is great. I ordered this paddle late Friday of the Memorial Day week and had the paddle on Tuesday. It weighed what I had requested as well. However, the paddle core started showing through the skin after only two sessions of play. Engage did honor their warranty. I have another Engage with a surface that has worn well, however.
